Nichols and Sullivan Canyon Social ride.

Nichols and a social Ride with Dan W.

Todays ride was weird; I felt sick and for the rest of the day felt like hurling. BAD. The good news was that I hit a new high speed on the final sprint 38.7 MPH with the new gears and the campy/velocity wheelset-- it's better for the sprint. 1/4 lb lighter and I can push the bigger gear. Cool!
I still finished 4th cuz of a bad set up by me. But that said I'm in the hunt.

Boring Bike gear and Dad

I'm visiting my Dad today and he's a piece of work! Unappreciative and not a good listener unless it's what he want to hear. Today I'll ask him what he wants out of our visits. I'll disengage my expectations from his and see if I can "sync up". I believe this is the only way we won't kill each other. More importantly, keep my myself whole.

LaGrange nite gave me the push last night to buy a 12-25 to get a bigger top end gear. I need to decide weather I want to change out the cogset on my training wheels. or (use a 2nd set of wheels with the 12-25) Completely swaping-out wheels. The wheel swap sounds easy but isn't because the hub has slightly different spacing and so it messes with the gearing adjustment.
One might not seem to think this is very important; But... I keep loosing the sprints and I'm blaming it on the equipment. Now if I loose the sprint, it'll be me.

I need a physiologist to tell me I'm not crazy just obsessed. My excuses have come to an end.

LaGrange Tuesday "Marina " ride -Not dropped-

LaGrange Tuesday "Marina " ride

Mandeville Time trial - fully rested and set. 20:35 or 20:48 Final TBD

Mandeville Time Trial
Josh ran one of his monthly time trials today. I took rest days to prepare. the day of TT I warmed up nicely; no cool down issues, started modestly, then out of the saddle to HR of 162; sat down and kept the HR in that zone until the end. I passed 5 riders. I had a nice spin home and picked up my new sporty LaGrange kit and socks.

Tuesday La Grange "A" ride group

Todays Ride stats; 42 miles.

Ride at race pace, I was able to stick with the "A" group, smaller and slower than their normal pace, I guess that was good for me.
Again I failed to start the Garmin until later in the ride, missing 17 miles.

Lots a climbing - the tank is empty

Todays Ride route.

This is the route I followed. My Garmin and I had words cuz' it didn't do what I wanted. Anyway a very very tough day riding by myself. At first I though that I was awfully tired for only 6700 ft. of climbing. Later the Motion based system then estimated 11K of climbing.
Not enough fuel in the tank. Numerous stops to cool down and for food and water. Lots of sun and wind along the coast and through the canyons.
Three serious climbs 6 to 12 percent. A couple steady 3 mile 10 percent curvy descents. The low point was me flipping off an elderly woman; (I wont go into that.)
High point was ocean views and nearly empty back roads Mulholland Latigo Canyon and Piuma with cool breezes.

Here is the motion based data Todays Ride stats; 88 miles.

Todays Ride stats; 42 miles.

20 ish at near race pace, then home in LA rush hour traffic. High point was the sunrise as we went around the Brentwood Country Club and golf course; the sun came up and was a giant orange orb at the skyline. Nice visual memory.
